Laura Ann Johnson

Laura Ann Johnson, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 12, 2017 at the Hospice Care Center in Copley. Born in Akron on Feb. 20, 1945 to the late William & Laura Wayman, Laura was a proud 1963 graduate of St. Mary High School. Laura worked as a Radiology Technician at St. Thomas Hospital for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Akron. Laura was a CYO youth basketball coach as well as a basketball referee for youth and high school teams. She loved to watch her children and grandchildren participate in sports. Laura is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Murrel; her children Matthew (Cathy) Limas, Michael (Melinda) Limas, & Amy McBryer; step-daughters Christine Johnson & Jeanenne Ropp; grandchildren Whitney & Mason McBryer, Matthew Limas, Ashlee & Brittney Johnson, Cody & Macklin Muhlhan, & Brody Ropp; great-grandchildren Kein & Alea Miller; special niece Juanita Johnson and her children Leah & Logan; sister Mary Schrader & brother William Wayman II, as well as many other extended family members. The family will receive friends on Thursday, 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 10 am, at St. Paul Catholic Church 1580 Brown St. in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Care Center 3358 Ridgewood Rd. Akron, OH 44333.
