Katie May Bliss

Katie May Bliss, 33, passed away peacefully March 2, 2021 with her wife and family by her side.
Katie was born in Akron to Kathy and Steve Bliss on July 9, 1987. She graduated Cuyahoga Falls High School in 2006, where she lettered in varsity softball. Katie (Kit) was quick witted, with a wonderful sense of humor, and was a loving person who always had a smile for everyone she met. Katie had a huge and warm heart she inherited and/or learned from her grandmother; she never had a bad or mean word to say. Katie loved animals of all kinds, especially dogs.
Katie had a very artistic side that came through in many ways. For 16 years, Katie performed with the Dancing Wheels Ballet company out of Cleveland. She was very good with her hands and made beautiful artwork adorning the walls of many family members and friends.
She loved listening & singing to all types of music and going to musicals and concerts. She loved traveling to New York City to watch her favorite shows on Broadway. Katie especially enjoyed country music. It was through country singer Terri Clark's fan club (The Hat Brats) where she met Karen.
"You only have one shot at life so live it with no fear." A beloved wife, daughter, stepmother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Katie will be greatly missed.
Katie is survived by her wife Karen Barney; mother Kathleen Pawlak Bliss, father Steven (Kim Beck) Bliss; brother Ali (Katie) Bliss; stepchildren Ryon (Erin) & Mary (Josh); grandson Landon; dogs Harley, Pal Pal, Lily, Miley; cats Piper & Callie; and many nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Thank you to Crossroads Hospice for their compassionate care of Katie in her final days surrounded by family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 6 from 10AM-12Noon at the Anthony Funeral Home, McGowan-Reid and Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 (one block North of Portage Trail at 3rd St.) where a funeral service will be held at 12Noon.
