Kathleen J. Bologa, 87, passed away surrounded by her family on January 24, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Emil. She is survived by her sons and their families; Robert (Denise) and grandson, Benjamin; and Joseph (Amy) and grandchildren, Luke, Rachel, Abigail, Anna, Mark and Rebecca.
Kathy was born in West Union, West Virginia, the youngest of 10 brothers and sisters and moved to Akron with her father at the age of 17 after her mother passed away. She worked at Acme Grocery in Akron until she left to start a family after 15 years of service. She was a faithful member of the Presentation of Our Lord Orthodox Church. Kathy was extremely active in the parish. She was a Sunday morning greeter and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, as well as being a youth advisor for several years with her husband. However, she was best known to everyone at the weekly fish fry's as the "Pie Lady". Kathy was a hard worker with a giant heart. She was loved by everyone who knew her and was always there when anyone needed a hug, a laugh or some motherly advice. God broke the mold when he made her. She will be sorely missed.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Presentation of Our Lord Orthodox Church, 3365 Ridgewood Rd. Fairlawn, Ohio 44333 where Kathy will lie in state and the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Masks and Social Distancing Required. Rev. Dr. Ian Pac-Urar officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Presentation of Our Lord Orthodox Church. (Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, Akron)
