Kathleen Beck

With deep love and gratitude, we remember Kathleen Beck, who at 61 years old entered her heavenly home on November 28, 2025, with her devoted husband of 29 years, Scott, by her side. Born in Akron to the late Louis and Carol Sekel, Kathleen's life was marked by compassion, dedication, and unwavering kindness.

A proud graduate of Coventry High School, Kathleen pursued her calling in nursing at the University of Akron, where she formed lifelong friendships as a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. Her commitment to caring for others led her to earn a master's degree as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner from The Ohio State University.

Kathleen's passion for helping the tiniest patients and their families guided her through a remarkable 40-year career at Akron Children's Hospital. She touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and expertise, and she found great joy in mentoring and inspiring students as a teacher. Kathleen's legacy lives on in the hearts of those she cared for, taught, and loved.

Above all, Kathleen's sons, Louie and Nathan, were the joy of her life and the reason she lived each day to the fullest. Her love for them was boundless, and her legacy lives on in their hearts and in all those she cared for, taught, and loved.

Kathleen found joy in making others laugh and cherished time spent at the beach, sunbathing, and being near water. She loved lighthouses, shopping, and selecting thoughtful gifts for those she cared about. Known for her generosity, she always brought plenty of food to gatherings. Her creativity shone through in the wreaths and flower arrangements she crafted, and she was especially remembered for her warm, comforting hugs.

Along with her husband and children, Kathleen is survived by her sister, Denise (Jeff) Sonneberger; her nephew, Nicholas; her niece, Stacey; and many dear family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 7th from 1-4pm at the Anthony Funeral Homes - Akron Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron.
