Julie Weigle
February 1951 - August 2024

Julie Weigle, born in February 1951 in Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Doris Mae Clark.

Julie was a proud graduate of Buchtel High School, where she met the love of her life, Larry Weigle. The two married and shared a beautiful journey of 52 years together. Their bond, first formed in high school, grew stronger with each passing year, a testament to their enduring love.

Julie was known for her eternal optimism and her unyielding enthusiasm for life. She always had a project in mind, ready to tackle it with passion and a smile. Her love for learning and her commitment to children led her to pursue a B.A. in Education at the University of Akron, where she graduated in 1972. She began her career as the Curriculum Center Librarian at the University of Akron Libraries. Later, she served as the school librarian at Simon Perkins Middle School, where she inspired countless young minds with her love of reading.

Julie was also deeply committed to her beliefs and was a lifelong Democrat. She was passionate about making a difference and volunteered her time on various political campaigns, including those for Sherrod Brown, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. Her dedication to public service and social justice was evident in all she did, and she worked tirelessly to support the causes she believed in. She would encourage you to vote this fall!

Julie's nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life. She found joy in creating goodie bags for the neighborhood children. She also shared her love of literature with her friend Abby's daughters, Evelyn, Ellie, and LouLou, passing on her passion for stories to the next generation.

Julie had a deep love for gardening and a special fondness for dachshunds. She spent many happy hours tending to her garden and caring for her beloved dogs, Maggie and Holly, who will miss her dearly.

Julie was blessed with many lasting friendships. She cherished her friend of over 30 years, Linda Herrington, who shared in many of life's milestones and joys. Julie also leaves behind her dear friend Erin Shapley, of whom she was immensely proud.

Julie believed in the power of kindness and the importance of mutual respect. She would love it if you could remember her by sharing a laugh, offering a kindness, or giving a compliment in her memory. These simple acts were a reflection of the joy and warmth she brought to those around her.

Julie and Larry shared many years of laughter and joy together, enjoying an almost lifelong devotion and understanding of one another. They loved spending time watching their favorite TV shows, planning for holidays, and discussing their beloved daughter, Katie. The memories they created together are too innumerable to count, but each one will be cherished by Larry for the rest of his life.

During this challenging time, the family has cherished the unwavering support of their friends Coach and Katrina, as well as their neighbors Aldo and Gabriela. Katie would especially like to thank Caitlin, Claire, Mary Anne, Stephen, and Yohan and the Zox Family for their love and care over the last week. Her partner Sam Creasey has also been a source of great support.

Julie leaves behind her devoted husband Larry Weigle, her loving daughter, Katie, her cherished sister, Renee Nist, and her treasured friend of nearly 50 years, Onadell Bly, with whom she shared many happy memories, including dinners, breakfasts. shopping trips, and shared vacations.

Julie's warmth, kindness, and love of life touched everyone who knew her. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
