Judy Ann Newhall

A. Newhall, age 76, died on June 22, 2018, following a brief illness. A longtime resident of Stow, Judy delighted in creating and teaching art, cooking and baking, gardening, reading, and sharing stories and traditions with her family and friends.
She was born May 12, 1942, in Akron, to Nick and Fannie Botz, and grew up in North Hill with her younger siblings Sandra and Nick. Judy was a proud graduate of North High School and the University of Akron where she earned degrees in both art education and the fine arts.
She was the beloved wife of James Newhall, whom she first met during a job interview at a local advertising agency and later married in 1964, and a devoted mother and grandmother to her two children and grandson.
Judy enjoyed a 30-year career as an art educator in the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District, sharing her creativity and passion for art and art history with generations of students. A lifetime member of the Ohio Education Association, she was a strong advocate for public education who believed in the ability of teaching and learning to transform lives.
A faithful member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church throughout her life, Judy served as a warden, vestry member, St. Anne's Guild member, and volunteer for educational programs for neighborhood children.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother David. She leaves behind her husband, Jim; children, Julie and Jamie; grandson Edward; brother Nick; sister Sandy; nephew David; dog Anya; and many dear family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 7, at noon at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 765 Thayer St., Akron, OH 44310. Memorial gifts may be given in Judy's name to St. Andrew Episcopal Church.
