Our mother, Joyce T. Mocarski (nee McDonald), loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away in the early hours of Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Timberland Ridge Rehabilitation Center, in Fairlawn, Ohio.
Joyce was born in Massachusetts on May 31, 1941. She lived in the Northeast for the early part of her life and this is where she met and married, Michael Mocarski, the love of her life, in 1963. And it is where together they began their family of four daughters, Terri, Robyn, Melissa and Heather. Joyce and Mike relocated to Uniontown, Ohio in 1975 where she became a valued member of the Nativity of the Lord Jesus Church. Joyce ultimately relocated to the Cuyahoga Falls area where she was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for the last 25 years.
Joyce was a vibrant and endlessly cheerful person who was loved by all. She loved crafting, sewing and scrap-booking from her days as "The Happy Wanderer" up until her passing. She was a cherished friend who formed lifelong bonds with too many people to mention. But the center of her life, from beginning to end, was her family. Whether it was chasing her brother around New England or raising her daughters in Ohio, "Family" was the greatest joy in her life. She took such great pride in the accomplishments of her daughters and grandchildren and loved nothing better than to spend time with them at family gatherings or at home. She has left an indelible mark on her daughters as they have moved forward with families of their own. The lessons she had passed onto them and the legacy of love that she and Mike had set for will be cherished memories for all. She will always be loved, remembered and be in the thoughts of her friends and family.
Joyce was preceded in death by Mike Mocarski, her husband of 37 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Malcom and Alice McDonald, and her brother and sister-in-law, David and Gail McDonald. Joyce is survived by her four daughters, Terri (Jim, deceased) Ferguson, Robyn (David) Devany, Melissa (Darryl) Piglia, and Heather Mocarksi (Scott Webster). She is also survived by grandchildren, Sean, Johnathan, Frank, Meaghan, Jamie, Michael and Abigail; as well as her great grandchildren, Evelyn and Rhaeayn.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of Cardinal Village where Joyce lived the last years of her life. They considered her a delight and a vibrant person and she absolutely enjoyed the care that she received and the social life she enjoyed while there.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held for Joyce at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Cuyahoga Falls on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Calling hours for will be held immediately before the service at Immaculate Heart of Mary from 10:00-11:00 a.m. And internment will take place at the Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Mike. She will be dearly missed by all.
