Joyce Ashley

Joyce Eloise Ashley of Uniontown, OH passed away Monday, December 15, 2025 surrounded by family.

Joyce was born on December 5, 1932 at Osbornes Mills, WV, daughter of the late Lon & Addie Mae Groves Hershberger. Joyce graduated Charleston General Hospital School of Nursing in 1953 and the next day married her high school sweetheart Harry L. Ashley. They moved to Akron, OH where Joyce worked at Akron Children's Hospital for ten years during the polio epidemic and worked at Akron City Hospital for 18 years. She attended Cornerstone Church until she was no longer able.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Harry L. Ashley, son Neal Ashley and sisters Kathern Madge Adkins and Marjorie Mae Allman.

She is survived by daughter Reggie (Denny) Watson; grandchildren Nate (Debbie) Watson and Laura (Dave) Andrew; great grandchildren Lennyn and Jack Watson, Claire, Harrison, Henry and Violet Andrew.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Traditions Hospice services for the loving care she received. Especially Jen, who was a blessing to all of us.

Calling hours are Monday, December 22 from 10am-noon at the Anthony Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Rd in Green, OH. Funeral service will begin at noon with Pastor Brenda Young officiating. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery; a procession to the cemetery will begin at the funeral home at 1:15pm.
