Joseph Thomas Myers, Sr., 86, of Stow, passed away on September 6, 2015. Born in Cuyahoga Falls, Joe grew up on North Hill in Akron. He spent most of his life in Stow and twenty years in Taylors, S. C. before moving back to Stow eight years ago. He was a graduate of North High School and served honorably in the U.S. Army. He drove tractor trailer fuel trucks without an accident for 30 years, for Pure Oil and Union Oil. Finish carpentry was a fulfilling passion of his, having built four houses (two on Adaline Dr., one on Lakeview, and one in Taylors, S.C.) as well as helping countless family and friends with construction projects. Joe was a member of Holy Family Parish in Stow, and very devoted to his faith.
He will be missed by his wife of 63 years, Peggy; sons, Tom (Diana) of Taylors S.C., Joe, Jr. (Kim), and Bill (Mary Pat) of Stow; grandchildren, Brett (Cassy) Myers, Kara Lambes of S.C., Emily (Adam) Ray, Rebecca, Bill, Mary, and Tommy Myers; and great grandchildren, Melina and Simon of S.C.
Calling hours will be on TODAY from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91). Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, followed by interment at Stow Cemetery.
