Joseph Michael Blike

Joseph M. Blike, 94, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
Born in Akron on March 6, 1928, he graduated from Garfield High School and then served in the United States Air Force. He was a machinist with RJS Inc. After obtaining a degree from the University of Akron in Industrial Management, he joined Firestone, then MMI and Intercole Bolling. In 1986, he was self-employed as president of JMB Sales, Inc.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and a former member of St. Michael's of Akron since birth until its closure. He encouraged his sons in their interests and was so proud that all four are Eagle Scouts. He was deeply involved with his family all of his life. He also enjoyed church activities, traveling, sub-contracting the building of his last house, cooking and especially golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Julia Blike; sisters, Mary Moran and Ann Valeri; and brothers, Mike and John. He is survived by his wife and sweetheart, Irene for 70 years; sons, James, Jeffrey (Nancy), Thomas and Dr. George (Dr. Rebecca); grandchildren, David, Gregory, Denise, Shannon, Daniel, Andrew, Sara, Samuel, Geoffrey and Julia; sister, Jeannette Clegg; and many special nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301. Fr. Miron Kerul-Kmec officiating.
