John ("Jack") S. Rambacher died on January 16, 2025, after suffering from Alzheimer's and associated declining health.
Jack was born to Sylvester J. and Harriet (Krill) Rambacher on October 19, 1936 in Akron, Ohio. He was the eldest of their four (4) children, followed by brother, James Rambacher (wife, Judy - being predeceased); and, 2 sisters, Betty Ritchey - being predeceased (Larry); and, Joan (Bill) Adams.
Jack was married to Jackie (Pullo) Rambacher in 1956. Jackie predeceased him in 2016. He is survived by their 5 children: Mary (Tom) Gaston; John J. (Lillian) Rambacher; Janet (Ken) Schalmo; Kathleen Kimble; and Nancy (Kevin) Blinkhorn; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy (Patrick) Wack; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jack was employed with Goodyear as an engineer (for over 40 years during which he was named on numerous patents). He was an avid golfer and very talented in carpentry, home improvements, plumbing and anything mechanical (although, being a perfectionist, his projects were often slow to completion). Jack was a devout Catholic, being a long-standing parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Akron, Ohio, where he proudly served as an usher for nearly 50 years and often volunteered.
Although Jack was afflicted with Alzheimer's, the disease ironically surfaced or heightened his personality, love and appreciation for family and his sense of humor.
We are greatly comforted knowing with all confidence that Jack is now fully enjoying his eternal life. We gratefully acknowledge the kind, loving and dignified care that he received at the House of Loreto in Canton, Ohio, where the Sisters and caregivers were true angels. Jack could occasionally be a challenge, but was always treated with patience and compassion. We pray for those having Alzheimer's, their families and their caregivers.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319. Visitation will take place at the Church starting at 9:30 a.m. (preceding mass). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Jack's name to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
