John was born in Akron and was a lifelong area resident. A graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1967, he was a Proud veteran serving two tours in Vietnam as an infantryman and receiving a Purple Heart. He was a huge fan of Cleveland sports; he loved his Indians, Cavs & Browns. One of his favorite things was to watch games with his sons and close friends. He also loved above all his wife of 50 years, his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. John was a loyal friend who would give you the shirt off his back.
He was proceeded in death by His mother Marion Whitford; father John Moritz Sr.; mother-in-law Doris Hetzel; and sister Susan Linderman. He is survived by his wife Donna Moritz; sons Aaron (Tiffany) & Michael (Erica) Moritz; grandchildren Steven, Jesse, Landon, Jordyn, & Ruby; brothers Charles (Teresa) Moritz, Michael (Pearl) Hacker, Robert & Jim Moritz; and many nieces and nephews, including Leah Simmons, Brayden Simmons & Robert Linderman. John will be missed by many especially his family. We love you, Dad.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 28 at 12:45PM with full military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Rittman, OH 44270. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project,
