Baseball John, 68, passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Care Center after an extended illness.
He was born in Akron and was a member of St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church. He was a professional engineer and was the owner of Summit Testing and Inspection. John was inducted into the Akron East High School Hall of Fame having kept score there for 49 years for the boys' basketball team. He enjoyed baseball and was a fan of the Akron U Zips, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State University. He also enjoyed casino gambling. John was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Concrete Institute and Friends of Bill W.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Malivuk. He is survived by his mother, Annie H. (Horvath) Malivuk; sister, Rozanne Malivuk; brothers, Daniel (Carol) and Chuck (Julie) Malivuk; nephew, Jason Malivuk; nieces, Tayler (Michael) Simmons and Nicole Malivuk; and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301. Fr. Milan Pajic officiating. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, one hour prior to service at the funeral home. John was very generous and supported many charities.
