John K. 'Jack' Wilson, 81, passed away April 28, 2024.
Jack was born in Akron on December 27, 1943 to the late Les & Jean Wilson. He was a 1961 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, where he was an inter-city conference all-star. He served his country in the US Army and spent one tour of duty in Vietnam. Jack retired from the McGowan-Reid & Santos Funeral Home, where he worked for nearly 30 years as a funeral director. Jack was an avid sports fan and especially loved football and basketball. He loved horse racing and was proud to have a race horse named after him: Santos to Wilson. He would famously tell the story of betting horses with Jack Klugman at Santa Anita.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Patricia & Dr. Marco Orozco. He is survived by his sister Joanne (Ron) Beck and brother David Wilson, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. He also leaves behind many close friends, especially the Kavenagh family, which always included him in all of their holidays and made him a member of their family.
Jack will be laid to rest alongside his parents on Monday, May 5, 12 pm at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. (Anthony, Falls, www.anthonyfh.com)
