John Hentosz, 101, passed away peacefully, on June 12, 2025.
John was born in Connellsville, PA to the late Frank and Mary Hentosz on February 9, 1924. He was a graduate of Hower High School. John served his country in the US Navy, in the South Pacific, during WWII. He retired from the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in 1987, where he worked in the maintenance department. John was a life member of the Firestone Park VFW #3383, the Firestone Park Primetimers, and was a social member of the Jednota Club.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Edna, along with 6 siblings. He is survived by his partner Janet Cornelius, along with 4 generations of nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 20 at the Anthony Funeral Home - Akron Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. A graveside service with full military honors will take place on Saturday, June 21, 11:30 am at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. A reception will immediately follow at the FOP Lodge #7 at 2610 Ley Drive in Akron.
