John Gilchrist

John Gilchrist, 49, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
He was born on January 20, 1973 in Akron, Ohio to Joann and Joseph Gilchrist. He was a graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School Class of 1991 and attended the University of Akron, receiving both his bachelors and master's degree in Business. John was a diehard Browns fan and had season tickets for many years. He enjoyed golfing and loved sports. John was always eager to take on a new adventure and completed Iowa's famous Ragbrai bike race multiple times. He was the grill master for many family dinners. John was skilled at fixing various things and was self-taught in renovating cars. He enjoyed attending auctions and restoring items to their former glory. John was the dependable person who you could always count on to help at a moment's notice, and he had a huge heart. He loved animals, especially his dog Meg. John spent a lot of quality time with his nieces and nephews and was always there for them. His sense of humor and deep laugh could make anyone's day. John was grateful to have lifelong friends from grade school and high school, including Chad Leiby, Mike Aloisi, and the Browns' crew. He was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John is preceded in death by his father, Joseph. He is survived by his loving
mother, Joann, and his 6 siblings including Teresa Babb, Cathy Gilchrist, Sue (John) Zanin, Michael (Judy) Gilchrist, Anne (Bruce) Bee, and Mary (Steve) Ertley. He was a proud uncle to Dena Lepi, Claire McCurdy, Andy Zanin, Emily Poinar, Patty McCutcheon, Joe Gilchrist, Annie Jeffries, Jimmy Gilchrist, and Mike, Tommy, Joe and Danny Bee; in addition a great uncle to 13 great nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 21st at 11 am at
Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls. Friends will be
received at the church one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church or Ministry for the Needy at
