Joanne Adair (Tangeman) Guilfoyle

Joanne (Jodi) Guilfoyle born August 4, 1929, died August 30, 2024. She was preceded in death by husband Bernard J. Guilfoyle of Long Island, NY and infant daughter Nancy.
Jodi was born in Pensacola, Florida and spent most of her childhood in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Farmersville High School and attended the University of Dayton. There she met and married her husband, Bernie. She is survived by the 6 children they raised together, Mike (Kathy), Steve (Deb), Joe (Kathy), Kevin (Elaine), Karen (Ken), and Rich (Rexy) as well as her sister Julie Tangeman and brother Dave Tangeman. She treasured each of her 15 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She sent birthday cards without fail to her many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Jodi was devoted to her family and enjoyed the large family gatherings at her home over the holidays. She was active in Prime Timers Senior Club, AARP, The Ancient Order of Hibernians as well as The Ladies Guild of St. Paul's Parish in Akron and the St. Vincent De Paul Society. Jodi enjoyed volunteering for the city of Akron, especially First Night and the marathon. In recent years she joined the Canal Fulton Senior Club going to lunch with friends after the meetings. Some of her other favorite pastimes were following the Guardians (Indians) and Cavaliers, decorating her home and gardening. She won several Beautification Awards from the city during her time in Akron. She enjoyed travelling, going to Ireland more than once, as well as Okinawa and Hawaii. She also enjoyed family reunions, her many visits to Las Vegas and Oregon spending time with her children and their families that lived there.
She will be forever remembered by those who knew her and sorely missed.

Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 11 AM at St.Paul Catholic Church 1580 Brown Street Akron, Ohio 44301. Visitation at the church is from 10 AM to 11 AM
