Joanne Cyc, 81, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024.
Joanne was born on May 9, 1942 in Chicago, IL to the late Kathleen & Peter Brackin, and moved to Akron in 1974 with her young family. She married Walter Cyc in 1984 and they ran Eagle Auto together, Joanne serving as the President. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She was a life member of the LAOH, the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and many other organizations. Joanne enjoyed gardening, cooking, and crocheting. She was also a foster mother.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her daughters Kathleen DeGregory and Carol Kisha; and brothers Richard, Thomas, & Jerome Brackin. She is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Walter Cyc; children Denice (Sam) Pantuso, Joseph (Janeen) Kisha, Pamela (Greg) Cooper, & Daniel (Katy) Kisha; son-in-law James DeGregory; her loving stepfamily; siblings Constance Toomey, George (Sheila) Brackin, PJ (Carol) Brackin, Kathleen Lanham & Lawrence (Dana) Brackin; sisters-in-law Linda Brackin, Eileen Brackin, and Diane Brackin; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-7PM on Monday, February 5 at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 6 at 10:30AM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. in Akron followed by burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital ( https://www.stjude.org/).
