Joann Y. (Mcgowan) Sprouse

Joann Y. Sprouse, 80, died Monday, Februauy 14, 2022.

Joann was born in Oak Hill, Ohio and came to the Akron area in 1959. She met Charles Sprouse soon after arriving and got married later that year. Joann retired as a cashier from Giant Eagle in 2010. She liked the Cleveland Indians and the Browns.

Joann was preceded in death by her husband 49 years, Charles; mother Frances; and sister Mary McGlone. She is survived by her son James (Jay); grandson Jaxon; sister Peg McGowan; brother Jay (Sandy) McGowan; dog Louie; and many other loved ones.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 18 from 10AM-12Noon at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron, were a funeral service will be held at 12Noon. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
