Jessie Donald 'Don' Alexander, a resident of Firestone Park for over 50 years passed away December 26, 2025, at the age of 78.
Don was born in Jamestown, NY on December 1, 1947. His family resided in Lakewood, NY on Chautauqua Lake. His fondest memories were as a child growing up on that lake. He joined the Marines in 1966 during the Vietnam era, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. He was stationed at Headquarters Co., Camp LeJeune, North Carolina until discharge in the fall of 1969. He worked for Wonder Bread for 42.5 years and then for Nabisco for 8 years before retirement. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and bingo and was an avid Browns fan. His latest fishing buddy was his grand-daughter Sarah.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Jessie Alexander; brother Pvt. Vernie D. Callis, USMC and his sister Patricia Callis-Steele. He is survived by his wife Alice of Akron; eldest daughter Lorrie (Brian Stone) Buwala and grandchildren Jared & Sarah Buwalaof N. Canton; daughter Kimberly (Fiance`Angel Gutierrez) Alexander of Medina; eldest son Stephen (Kristen) Alexander and grandchildren Jacob & Jonah Alexander of Spotsylvania, PA; son David (Nicole) Alexander of Munroe Falls.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 1, 2026, from 5-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home - Akron Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A private burial with full military honors will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
