Jeannette Adams

Jeannette Adams, 86, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2021, leaving us memories of her kind heart and lively, upbeat spirit.

Jeannette was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, and graduated from East High School. After graduation, she found work as a professional fashion model in the Cleveland area, catching people off guard with her bright blue eyes and arresting good looks. Later, her outgoing personality served her well in her work as a product consultant with Shulton Products and as a cashier at Acme Grocery.

Jeannette had an instinct for making life fun. She loved to talk and dance and watch classic movies, and she liked to occasionally indulge her sweet tooth with Krispy Kreme doughnuts. She often spent evenings playing church-hall bingo and she held her own in poker games with the guys. And no matter what she was doing, Jeannette was dressed to the nines, for she had a great flair for fashion (you should have seen her hat collection!) and a discerning eye for color and style.

Jeannette was also a person of faith. She was a longtime member of St. John's Catholic Church in Akron and she used to make trips to a convent in Michigan, where she prayed and played cards with the nuns. She loved God and she loved people, and she struck up conversations easily. She was a kind person with many lifelong friends.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, Espy and Ali Adams, and her siblings, Inez, Doyle, Helen, and Christine. She is survived by her beloved longtime companion, Bobby DiDonato, as well as her extended family. Special thanks to Laura Seaver, NP, for all her healthcare services over the years.

Jeannette's life will be celebrated on Saturday, April 17, 2021, with calling hours to be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (1034 Brown Street, Akron, Ohio) from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Burial will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Akron, Ohio.
