Jean B. Meidlinger, 93 passed away peacefully on June 5th at the Justin Rogers Hospice.
She was a lifelong Akron resident born to Erma (nee Ferency) and Joseph Smiljanich. Her first job was at Woolworth's and she worked at Polsky's and Yankee Truck Lines. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Eastern Star and the Hungarian American Club where she met her husband George and shared many memorable events with friends, food, dance and music.
Jean is survived by daughter Linda Malott (Joe), son Rick (Terri) and granddaughters Jenny Clodfelter (Daniel), Meggie Meidlinger, Kenna Malott and Cami Malott, brother Bill Smiley (Linda) and SIL Myra Smiley and many friends, cousins and neighbors. She was preceded in death by sister Marian Blanco (Bill), and brothers Joe and Bob.
She was a devoted friend and lived an active life. "Aunt Jean" will be missed by those to whom she was their aunt and by those who adopted her like she was. George will be waiting to again dance the polka with her.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 14 from 5-7PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Saturday, June 15 at 10AM. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity UCC Memorial Fund, 915 N. Main St., Akron, OH 44310 or to The Hungarian American Club, 694 E.
