IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean Marie
Bernert
May 12, 1946 – January 21, 2026
Jean Marie Bernert (nee Sandy), 79, of Stow, Ohio, passed away on January 21, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, surrounded by her loving children.
Born May 12, 1946, in Akron's North Hill, she was the daughter of William and Mary Sandy. Jean attended St. Mary High School and the University of Akron. She spent many years as treasurer of Holy Family School in Stow, where she cherished the students and staff who became lifelong friends.
Jean was married to Frank Bernert Jr. for more than 45 years, and together they raised three children. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she never missed a game or milestone and especially loved time spent holding and cheering on her grandchildren. She is remembered by many for her happy smile, laugh, and warm demeanor even to the very end.
She is survived by her children, Brian (Kim) Bernert, Kristin (Kate Reidel) Bernert, and Katie (Nick) Finnegan; grandchildren Will, Maddie, Ellie, Grady, Emma, Jack, and Benjamin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, her parents, and siblings Jim, Janet, Jack, and Joy.
The family would like to send a very special thank you to Gardens of Western Reserve Hospice as well as the staff at the Danbury Senior Living, Hudson for all the love and compassion they have shown to Jean over the years. They are truly angels on earth and we thank them immensely.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt 91). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 28 at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow (3179 Kent Rd.). Following the funeral service, burial will take place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Pat Summitt Foundation in her memory.
