Janet Bryant

Janet Lyn Bryant, 81, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January 8, 2026.

Janet was born in Akron on July 13, 1944 to the late Alex & Mary Hardy and was a 1962 graduate of Springfield High School. Janet attended nursing school at Akron General Hospital and went on to receive her BSN from Malone College and her Master's in Nursing from Kent State University. She worked as a med/surg nurse for over 45 years. Janet was a longtime member of the Chapel in Akron. Jan was an avid quilter and needle worker who inspired multiple generations to keep her love of quilting alive through teaching at the Firestone Park Community Center. Together with her husband Dave, she owned and operated the Dairy Queen on E. Wilbeth Rd.

Janet is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dave; her children David R. (Kim), Jr., Beth & Susan (Andrew); grandchildren Brittany, Lauren, Michael David, Alec (Dianna), Noah (Andrea), Sophie (Jack), Willem, Von, & Judah; great-granddaughter Amelia.

A Celebration of Jan's Life will take place at 3 pm on Sunday, January 11 at the Anthony Funeral Home - Akron Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. The family will receive friends, prior to the funeral service, beginning at 1 pm.
