Jane A. O'Connor

February 4, 1921 — September 4, 2021

Akron, Ohio - Jane A. (Lieb) O'Connor (February 4, 1921-September 4, 2021)
Jane was born into a Catholic family in Sunbury, PA, the sixth of 7 children of Aloysius and Julia (Byrne) Lieb.
After earning a degree in dietetics from Saint Joseph College in Emmitsburg, MD, Jane worked as a dietician for several years during World War Il at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Sher married John E. (Gene) O'Connor of Marion, OH, on June 19, 1946. Gene and Jane settled in the Akron, OH area where they were members of several parishes and of the Bread of Life Community.
Jane had a wonderful gift of meeting a person and receiving them as they are. She made many friends of all ages who were drawn to enjoy her company and to love her. Her most cherished gift was her faith in the Lord Jesus and her family-including beloved nieces and nephews-and dear friends from all walks of life who were blessed by Gene and Jane's gift of hospitality.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, in 1986. She is survived by nine children: Maureen (Dick, deceased) Herman, Eileen (John) Patton, Fr. Tm, Peg (Jim) Demboski, Ann (Mike) Pozuc, Kevin (Mary nee Foley), Sr. Casey, Kelly (Bob) Rybka, Patricia (John) Sherman. Jane has 42 grandchildren (2 in heaven: Kathleen Rybka and Katylynn Patton) and even more great grandchildren who don't slow down enough to count them.
Jane moved to McAllen, TX in 2005 to be near the Servants of the Cross Mission in Reynosa, Mexico, where several of her children and grandchildren were serving. She made many beloved and lasting friends at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in McAllen. She has been living with her daughter and son-in-law, John and Eileen Patton, for 14 years and has been blessed to be part of the St. Francis de Sales Parish family in Portage Lakes, OH.
Please pray for her blessed rest until she is raised in the resurrection with the faithful in Christ. Don't hesitate to ask her to pray for you as so many did when she was here among us. She is less distracted now to join in our prayers.
