James Eugene Vaughan

James E. Vaughan, 77, passed away Saturday, September 28th, 2024.

Jim was the son of George and Rita Vaughan. He graduated from Hoban High School in 1965, making several lifelong friends. After 28.5 years of a rewarding career, he retired as a Lieutenant from the Akron Fire Department.

Jim enjoyed socializing with anybody and everyone. There was never a function where he wasn't present. He also enjoyed golfing, yard work, and, most importantly, his family.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Cherie, and children Eric Vaughan (Diane), Barry Wilkins, Heather Langenek (Brian), Wendy Dobbins (Art), and Sarah Vaughan. He was the best grandpa to Brittany (Jim), Artie (Kylie), Adam (Jessie), Chloe, Olivia, Anna (Jeremy), Jaime, Beau (deceased), Tyler, Jacob, Brady, and Leah. Great Grandpa to Delaney, Addie, Reed, Kaylee, and Kennedy. He also leaves behind his sisters, Kathy Vaughan, Julie Vaughan, Beth Sanfillipo, Mary Mahaley (Marty), Chrissie Robbins (Dick), and "Grandpa Uncle Jimmy" to Pat, Sean and Kelly, and several other nieces and nephews.

He always had a smile to share and will be deeply missed by many. Our hearts will be forever broken.

Calling hours will be held at the Anthony Funeral Home in Akron on Thursday, October 3rd, from 4 to 7 p.m. The Last Alarm Service will begin at 6:45 p.m.
