Obituary

Scobbo, Sr. died on Sept. 25, 2015 at Laurel Lake Retirement Community, Hudson, Oh. (where he has resided since July, 2013) after a ten month battle with pancreatic cancer complicated by Parkinson's. A former resident of Stow (since 1965) he was born in Scranton, Pa. on Dec. 15, 1935, the son of the late Angelo and Eve Scobbo. He was a graduate of Central High School, Keystone Jr. College, the University of Scranton, and Fairleigh Dickenson University, N.J. He had retired from Omnova Solutions after 28 yrs. of service. Jim was a member of St. Eugene Parish, Cuyahoga Falls and belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 2362 and Fourth Degree Assembly 1768. He is survived by wife of 54 years, Marlene Sweeney Scobbo; son, James J., Jr. and Nicki Scobbo, his son Chase Scobbo and her children, Connell, Arissnia, and Karina of Evansville, In.; son, Jerald J. Scobbo of Dallas, Tx.; daughter, Judith M. and John F. Gialamas and their daughters, Kaylee and Ainsley of Willoughby Hills, Oh. and Alysia of Indianapolis, In.; aunt, Eileen Baine of Scranton, Pa.; and many cousins on the East Coast; brother, Denis Scobbo of Florida; nephew, Brad and Margie Scobbo, their children, Matthew and Sarah; niece, Nicole and William Bafundo and their tripletts, Jackson, Madison, and Chloe all of Connecticut; sister-in-law, Carol and Thomas Brobst; niece, Debra and Barry Smith and their sons, Jeremy and Matthew; nieces, Patricia O'Neil and Kathleen Eckhart and her daughter, Maggie, all of the Allentown, Pa. area; cousins--in-law, Terri and Al Davis of North Bend, Pa. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91) where the Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at 6:30 p.m.. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Eugene Catholic Church, Cuyahoga Falls followed by interment at Silver Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Eugene Church, Crossroads Hospice, or Laurel Lake Foundation.
