James Vincent Pentello, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Jim was born on October 31, 1945 in Canton, Ohio to the late Sabatino and Rose Pentello. He was a member of the US Air Force as a load master and served during Vietnam. Jim worked for the Ohio Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector for 37 years. He loved to golf and play poker with his best buddies. Jim was a member of the Canton Ex-Newsboys Club. Jim was always very handy and had many talents ranging from woodworking to computers. He was a longtime member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Robert Boyd. Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy (Scofield); children James Pentello II and Tami (Brian) Pentello-Greene; grandchildren Samuel and Marlina Greene; siblings Christine Boyd, Thomas (Kacie) Pentello, Rev. Richard Pentello, and Joseph (Beverly) Pentello; brother-in-law Alan (Debbie) Scofield; and many nieces and nephews.
Thank you to the staff and doctors at hospice and the Aultman Compassionate Care Center for their care during Jim's final days.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 12, 2026 from 5-7PM at the Anthony Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Road (Corner of Massillon and Steese Roads, entrance off Steese). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road in Green. Burial at Sunset Hills Burial Park will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/.
