James A. Mima

January 5, 1934 — February 25, 2025

James A. Mima, 91, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, in Akron, Ohio, surrounded by family.
Born on January 5, 1934, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to Andrew and Mary Mima, Jim later moved to Akron, Ohio, where he built a life filled with love and family. It was there that he met Sally Sinkhorn, the love of his life. They married and shared an incredible 71 years together, creating a lifetime of cherished memories.
Jim had a deep appreciation for steam locomotives which led to his hobby of HO scale model railroading. His intricate display under the Christmas tree mesmerized his children and grandchildren. Jim found joy in fishing, camping, and boating. He was also an artist who expressed his creativity through his work. Passionate about his interests, he loved sharing them with others. Music was always playing, and you might hear anything from Big Band music, the Beatles or Ramsey Lewis when entering their home.
A man of faith, Jim was a devoted member of Blessed Trinity Parish (formerly St. Martha's) for over 75 years. He also served as a Naval Reservist, demonstrating his commitment to service.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Sally (Sinkhorn) Mima; his children Beth Ann Jackson, Todd Mima, and Shaun (Rebecca) Mima; grandchildren Sara, Samantha, Halle, Geena, Audrey, Sydney, and Mitchell; as well as eight great-grandchildren. He lost his beloved son Jamie Mima on November 13, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. Jamie is survived by his children, Sydney and Mitchell. He is also preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Mary Mima; his sister Joan Uhrin; and his grandson Nick Mima.
Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to bring joy to those who loved him.
