James Patrick Mcgowan

James Patrick McGowan, 90, passed away with his loving wife Mary Ann by his side, on December 9, 2022.
Jim was born in Akron on April 15, 1932 to the late Michael and Rose (O'Hara) McGowan . He worked for Ford Motor Co. as a metal finisher, retiring in 1992. Jim was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Jednota 553, UAW 420, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Firestone Park Primetimers. He served his country as a US Marine during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters Rosemarie & Mary Ellen and brothers Michael, Art, & Jack. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Ann; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Stacy McGowan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the people of both St. John the Baptist & Our Lady of Victory Parishes for their many visits, as well as Traditions Hospice and Tallmadge Health & Rehab for their care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 15, at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 1034 Brown St. Akron, OH 44301 where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
