James E. Kuder II, 69, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 4, 2024. In his final days, he was surrounded by many of his cherished family and friends.
James was born November 22, 1954 to James and Margaret (Pachipka) Kuder in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He was a 1973 graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School and, in 1978, received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Akron. He had a long career with the Akron Health Department working in air quality control and health & food safety. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
His family called him Jamie. This nickname said a lot about who he was: a carefree, fun-loving, and kind person. He showed his love for his friends and family every day through unexpected gifts, thoughtful acts of service, and cooking delicious meals. At family gatherings, he could usually be found in the kitchen or behind the grill, putting his professional catering skills to use. No matter how hungry or tired he was, he made sure everyone ate before him.
The simple pleasures of life brought Jamie the most happiness. During warm weather, he could be found at the golf course with his best friends or at a local pond with a fishing pole in hand. Perhaps his greatest legacy is that he taught all of his children and nieces and nephews to fish.
He will be greatly missed by countless people for his wisdom, guidance, love, and contagious laugh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 33 years, Marcia (Whalen) Kuder in 2018. He is survived by his children John, Emily, and Andrew Kuder; siblings Jeanne (Jim) Gides, Chuck (Eleanor) Kuder, and Celeste Powell; brothers and sisters-in law Lyn (Mark) Miller, Larry Whalen, Cathy (Wayne) Wilson, and Sharon Greitzer; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan, Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. (corner of Stow and Third Street, one block north of Portage Trail). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223. Interment to follow at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy @
