James "Jim" Ullman

July 7, 1948 — November 30, 2025

James (Jim) Ullman passed away on November 30, 2025, in Akron, with his family by his side. He was a lifelong resident of Akron, attended East High School, and later moved his family to Kenmore, where he attended the Akron Baptist Temple.

Jim worked for more than 40 years in the family business, Ullman and Son Plaza Donuts. He was a hard-working man, dedicated to raising his family with solid values and a strong work ethic. All his children worked alongside Jim, his parents, and his wife in the donut shop from a young age, learning responsibility and the value of a dollar.

In his younger years, Jim was always working on cars or motorcycles-a passion he passed on to his sons. Whether he was building choppers with friends or repairing all the neighborhood kids' bikes, Jim was known as a true Mr. Fix-It; if it had a motor or wheels, he could fix it.

Another of Jim's passions was his 1974 Ford Gran Torino station wagon. He purchased the car new in 1974 to provide transportation for his growing family, which could no longer fit in his 1969 Mustang. In later years, he continued to work on the car and often showed it at Winks and other events with his wife, Juanita.

Above all else, Jim was dedicated to his family. Whether riding his motorcycle to support Popcorn Day at Rimer School, helping fix cars, celebrating every birthday and graduation, or gathering for family picnics, Jim was always there. He raised his children to know right from wrong and to always help those in need.

Preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Jean, Jim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Juanita; children Anita, Jimmy, Lance (Sarah), and Chad (Amy); grandchildren Crystal (Danny), Kylie (Korie), Jimmy (Taylor), John (Jessica), Lizzie (Travis), Alissa, Brandin, and Jaelin; and great-grandchildren Lola, Penelope, Jocelyn, and Lyanna.

Respecting Jim's wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in his memory.
