GREEN - James Bradford Hall passed away peacefully at Summa Akron City Hospital on Sunday, Feb 23, 2025. Jim was born on March 11, 1934, in Akron, Ohio, the only child of Wilbur B. Hall and Virginia V. (Baab) Hall Oaks. He is survived by his wife Marlene Varca Hall and daughters Diane Scott (Charlie) of Sarasota, FL, Phyllis Schirle (Paul) of Chesapeake, VA, and MaryAnn Hall (Ron Dabrowski) of Sarasota, FL, and his grandchildren Lisa Marx (Orion), Elizabeth Toolan (Zariel), Brad Hall (Jennifer), Rose Schirle, and Nathaniel Schirle (Brenna), plus great-grandchildren Avery and Violet Marx, Maeve and Finn Toolan, and Haley and Ariel Hall.
Jim was a businessman and entrepreneur. He started a landscaping company called Home Landscaping and Holiday Display in Akron in 1957 which became JB Hall Inc and finally Hallco Inc. He successfully operated his business for 63 years. He expanded to landscape architecture over the years and was well known for his custom designs and excellent craftsmanship. His innovative use of materials in building decks, walls and gazebos was a testament to his creative talent. He was an accomplished finish carpenter, recognized for his signature "Garden Carpentry®" designs. Jim was also a proud member of the Akron Operating Engineers, serving with them for over 74 years.
Jim loved life! He enjoyed traveling and experiencing other cultures and cuisines. He had a great sense of humor and a charming smile. Most of all, Jim was a loving husband and father. He was always available to give sage advice when asked. He was a generous man who would lend a helping hand to those in need. Jim was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.
Jim and Marlene attended church together at The Chapel in Green. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery on March 11, 2025, at 2pm, Pastor Brett Faris officiating.
