IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James E.
Gates
October 1, 1952 – March 24, 2024
James E. Gates, 71, of Uniontown, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home on March 24, 2024.
Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pam (Wiese); daughters Alyssa (David) Schreiber and Kara (John) Kirkpatrick; grandchildren, Katelyn and Jackson Schreiber and Lila Kirkpatrick, sister-in-law Lori (Mike) Mavrigian; nieces Jennifer (John) Fowler, Erin Marriott and Cheryl Johnson; and nephew Ryan (Beata) Arthur.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty (Hall) and his sisters, Sandra Arthur and Beverly Gates.
Raised in Akron, Jim was a 1970 graduate of Firestone High School, where he was a proud member of the Falcon Marching Band. He then attended the University of Akron before embarking on a career in retail with JCPenney, where he met his wife. He later transitioned into banking, and retired from Huntington National Bank in 2022.
Jim was a member of Tallmadge Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed serving alongside good friends. Jim was a lover of music, Cleveland sports, fishing, and golf. He was especially fond of Lake Erie sunsets, meteor showers, fireworks, and a good thunderstorm, and enjoyed sharing these loves with his grandchildren. He will be missed dearly.
