James H. 'Jim' DeMarco, 72 passed away on September 7, 2024.
Jim was born in Pittsburgh, PA (Go Steelers!) on September 20, 1951 to the late Louis & Rita DeMarco. Jim was a 1970 graduate of Green High School and retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation as Summit County Road Supervisor, after 30 years. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Green. He was a member of the Army/Navy Garrison #250 & Sons & Daughters of Italy in America Akron Lodge #685. Jim was a classic car and street rod enthusiast and was the proud owner of a 1940 Ford Pickup. Jim was a diehard Steelers fan. He adored his grandchildren and loved to attend their football games or track meets.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Michele 'Mikki'; son Jim (Jill) DeMarco and daughter Nicole (Todd) Smith; grandchildren Kimberly, Vincent, & Remington; sister Lori (Larry) Gorman & brother Bud DeMarco, along with a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews, and many friends who became family.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday Sept. 11, from 5-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home, GREEN CHAPEL, 4178 Massillon Rd. in Green (Entrance off of Steese Rd.). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Sept. 12, 10:00 am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd in Green. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Sons & Daughters of Italy in America Akron Lodge #685 Scholarship Fund.
