Obituary

Jack R. Prochnow, 93, of Munroe Falls, passed away September 17,2021. He joins Doris, his wife of 70 years, who preceded him in death on September 27, 2020. The couple were the parents of eight children. Jack was born on March 29, 1928 and lived most of his life in the Stow area, graduating from Stow High School. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Goodyear Squad and retired as a foreman in the Welding Department. He enjoyed several annual fishing trips to Canada with his sons and other relatives and friends. In later life he was a co-driver for Fed Ex Custom Critical with his eldest son, Mark. They delivered for the company throughout the United States and Canada. Jack was an expert at fixing anything and his skills were often called upon by family members and friends. His only daughter, Cynthia, preceded him in death in 2010, as did his granddaughter, Kimberly Prochnow. His seven surviving sons are: Mark (Virginia) Prochnow; Steven (Imelda) Prochnow; Jeffrey (Susan) Prochnow; Thomas Prochnow; Eric (Sally) Prochnow; Michael (Barbara) Prochnow; and John Prochnow. He also had 12 grandchildren: Christine Durys Prochnow, Mathew Prochnow, Benjamin Prochnow, Kathryn Prochnow Murphy, Scott Prochnow, David Prochnow, Christian Prochnow, Joshua Prochnow, Nicholas Prochnow, Stephani Ramstetter Prochnow, Sydney Prochnow and Sara Prochnow. Graveside services will be private.
