Ida Louise Jones, 89, of Norton, Ohio passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at home with her family by her side.
She was born in Middlebourne, West Virginia on July 12, 1932 and was a 1952 graduate of Tyler County High School in Middlebourne. Ida Louise was a member of the Brown Street Church of Christ in Akron. She worked at Polsky's Department Store until it closed. Ida Louise then worked in the hosiery department at O'Neil's, which later became Kaufmann's, then the May Company and finally Macy's. After retirement, she worked several more years at Macy's as needed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Vonda Mae (Doak) Baker; husband, Robert P. Jones; sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Paul Shuman; brother and sister-in-law, Richard Paul and Clara Lee Baker; brothers, John and David Baker; and brother-in-law, LeRoy Burley. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Jean Jones; son, Stephen R. Jones; sister, Martha Burley; sister-in-law, Gerry Baker; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends.
Ida Louise was a wonderful mom -- the "Best Mom Ever", and she will be dearly missed by her daughter Donna and son Stephen. The family would like to thank Hospice of Summa for their care and support, especially Tom, Melanie, and Nancy.
Funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301 where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mr. Don Wright officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. Ida Louise was a breast cancer survivor and a long time diabetic. Donations in her memory may be made to the Breast Cancer Association or to the Diabetes Association.
