Hubert Paul Witte

Hubert Paul Witte departed this life and entered into the presence and grace of God on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at his home. Born on June 28, 1927 in Milo, West Virginia to Carl and Harriet Witte, Hubert was a humble man that lived an extraordinary life. He was a graduate of South High School (Class of 1945) and following graduation enlisted to serve his country in World War II reaching the rank of Corporal in the Third Army. He attended Glenville State College, graduating in 1951. He married Georgia Djurisich Witte on December 20, 1952 and together they raised three daughters. A devout Christian, Hubert was a longtime member of the Allenside Presbyterian Church in Akron where he attended multiple Conventions on behalf of the Church and was an Elder. He retired in 2001 after a 36-year teaching career with the Springfield Local Schools. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, American Legion, Barberton YMCA, and the Akron Kolo Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia; eldest daughter, Cynthia Holmes; and grandsons, Nathaniel MacConnell and Gabriel Holmes. He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca (Chip) MacConnell and Deborah A. Witte; 13 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Hubert will be remembered with great fondness by family and friends as a cherished husband, father and grandfather, a dedicated teacher, and friend to all. A Funeral service for Hubert will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at Allenside Presbyterian Church, 410 Rexford St. Akron, Ohio 44314. Pastor Frances Fischer officiating. Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Akron. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301 and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Church. (Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, Akron)
