Helen Mae Square

May 25, 1925 — January 16, 2021

Helen Mae Square, 95, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2021 at Brookdale Barberton Assisted Living.
Helen was born May 25, 1925 to Louis and Ellen (Patchen) Jacobs in Akron. She was a 1943 Graduate of Kenmore High School and graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. She was actively involved with her husband Nicholas in their business, Square's Home Furnishings. She was a member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Nicholas and her sister Barbara Jacobs. She is survived by her children Mary (John) Payne and Nicholas (Cathy) Square; grandchildren Chris Payne, Tim (Miranda) Payne, Bethany (Jose) Romero, Lisa Square and Nicholas Square; great grandson Nicolas Romero.
Helen was a quiet intellect, interested in literature, history and politics with a vast, unpretentious source of knowledge that made her an enjoyable conversationalist. A patient wife and loving mother and grandmother who will forever be remembered for her perogies and kielbasa at all the family gatherings. In her later years she was grateful for her longevity and considered it a blessing. We would like to thank the nurses and support staff at Brookdale for their kind and respectful care of Helen over many years. She was very proud of being one of their longest residents. We will always remember her positive attitude, easy disposition and warm smile.
Private Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 11:00 am at Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel and will be live streamed at Facebook.com/anthonyfuneralhomes. Rev. Fr. Vsevolod Shevchuk officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
