Harold W. Schneckenburger, 94 passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017. He was born in Akron and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a former member of First United Church of Christ and First Grace Church of Christ. Harold was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the attack and was awarded several decorations including the Bronze Star(s). He was the longest active member of the American Legion Garfield Post #566, where he also served as former Post Commander. He was preceded in death by parents, William and Barbara; wife, Josephine (Bamonte); brothers, Walter and Willard; and sisters, Margaret, Elsie and Edna. He is survived by sons, William (Pam); Robert (Denese) and daughter, Mary Jo; brother, Marvin; sister, Gloria; grandchildren, Matthew (Elizabeth), Megan (Ted), Nicholas and Brandon; and great-grandchildren, Sophia and Myles. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service with military honors will be held Saturday, 1 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301 where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rev. Donard Engle officiating. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. (Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, Akron)
