Gregory T. Shook, 63, passed away on April 17, 2025.
Greg was born on September 18, 1961 to Tom & Joanne Shook and was a 1979 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. Greg worked most of his career as a salesman in the industrial knife industry, criss-crossing the country while building multiple businesses over 30-plus years. He closed his working days by returning to his roots and leading event security teams for Hall Security, a company he began working for back during his college days at Kent State University, rubbing elbows with some of the biggest names in show business and returning with countless stories to proudly share with friends and family. He was especially fond of his interactions with Prince and The Revolution, and managed to hang onto his security vest from the Michael Jackson Victory tour for 40 years as a cherished memento before adding the likes of Journey and Metallica to his rolodex in his second act in security. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a former parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he launched a dedicated run in CYO Sports, beginning as a coach of his son's football, basketball and baseball teams and daughters' basketball teams before eventually transitioning to area site director. He was an avid sports fan and was a 25-year Browns season-ticket holder, joyfully taking his family to Browns games from their return in 1999 and establishing a long held family tradition, and even amid the franchise's many disappointments, he always remained optimistic the Browns were about to turn the corner toward the success he witnessed in the 1980s. One of his fondest memories was watching the Cavs win the NBA championship with his son in Cleveland, where they celebrated with fellow fans all night and drove home triumphantly as the sun rose, and he loved to take the family to watch Cleveland's baseball team, especially during their thrilling run of success in the 1990s. Greg was always the life of the party, the first on the dance floor and never too shy to draw everyone else into the fun. Those who knew him will remember him as a charming, affable, honest, reliable and devoted friend, father, brother, son and husband. He will be dearly missed by all who crossed paths with him.
Greg is survived by his children Autumn (Adam) Gaskins, Nick Shook, Caitlin (Nick) Bovard, & Brooke Shook;his parents Tom & Joanne Shook; grandchildren Avery, Anderson, and Blair; sisters Brenda Manley & Lisa (Donald) Sarisky, as well as nephews Cody, Brandon, Jaret and nieces Shelby & Shayna.
