Gregory Edward Hughes

Gregory Hughes, age 53, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023, after a brief illness.

Greg was born November 15, 1969, in Akron to David and Carol (Wagner) Hughes, both now deceased.

Greg grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, then moved to Jackson Township and then to North Canton where he attended High School and finally to the Akron area. He enjoyed camping as he grew up with a permanent spot at Paradise Lake Park now known as Fireside Campgrounds. He also enjoyed fishing, grilling and raising various animals such as fish, dogs, lizards and other reptiles. He liked yard sales and trading things. He was always helping everyone with car and home repairs. Greg was a friend to everybody. The best thing about him was his sense of humor and quick wit. There was no being sad around Greg. He was a very bright light in this world and he will sadly be missed.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents Carol and David Hughes and his dog Sophia Maria. He is survived by his fiancée' Karen Burt, his daughters, Erica (Ryan) DeBord, Jessica (Nate) Rice, and Janese (Dan) Hornsby, his sisters Diane who goes by Dee Hetrick and Debra Hughes, his brother Richard (Kathy) Hughes, his grandchildren, Noah, Lexi, Emma, Drake, Gage, Jaedan and Jordyn, numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews and great nieces and nephews, his beloved dogs Spot and Zeus, plus his numerous friends, coworkers and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 5 to 7 pm at Anthony Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Rd., Uniontown, OH (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads, entrance off Steese Road). A celebration of Greg's life will follow at 7 pm.
