Gloria Gene Roepke, 95, passed away peacefully February 12, 2023 with her family by her side.
Gloria was born September 26,1927 in Patton, Pennsylvania, a daughter of John Edwin Marsh and Lill Amber Long. She graduated from Patton High School and moved to Akron, Ohio where she met Clarence (Al) Roepke, Jr. her husband of 49 1/2 years. She went directly from high school to a secretarial job for five years for W.R. LaDue, the superintendent of the Akron Water Department. She returned to work in 1969 as a secretary at Cuyahoga Falls High School, retiring in 1988 with nineteen years of service.
Gloria is survived by her beloved children, Deborah Roepke of Chicago, IL, Denise and Dan Gorski of Poland, OH and David Roepke of Scottsdale, AZ; sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Jim Ritchey; nieces and nephews Linda and Bob Thompson, Sue and Dave Ray and Jimmy Ritchey Jr. She was a great aunt to Heather Thompson, Christine & Sean Sudimak, Nicole Ray & Megan Neitz, Jeremy Ray and a great-great aunt to Liam and Ashton Sudimak.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence "Al" Roepke, Jr. (Nov. 10, 2000), and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Maxine and Dominic Granata.
Gloria was a member of the NE-HTA Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi, Cuyahoga Falls Woman's Club, and the Cuyahoga Falls Travel Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls.
The family would especially like to thank the past and present staff and residents at Woodlands Assisted Living for their compassion, care, friendship, and love during the last six years. Thank you to Hospice of the Valley for their guidance during this difficult time.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel located at 247 Stow Avenue (at Third Street, one block north of Portage Trail) in Cuyahoga Falls. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church Chapel of the Good Shepard, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, where friends may call from 10 to 10:45 prior to the service. Interment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. If desired, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Gifts & Memorial Fund. (Anthony, FALLS)
