Gloria Elizabeth Boyd, 68 passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 at Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood.
She was born in Cleveland and was a member of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Church in Broadview Heights where she was an active church and choir member.  Mrs. Boyd was a Registered Nurse retiring from University Hospital. She then worked for the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority. She was a member of the Black Nurses Association, did self-help teaching for the Lupus Foundation and worked for the Suicide Prevention Hotline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; father, Eddie Smith; and grandmother, Elizabeth Flint. She is survived by her children, Walter R., D. Lovell (Asia) and Shawn Boyd and Lauren Smith, niece/daughter; mother, Dorothy (Austin) Smith; daughter-in-law, Lashawnda Rodgers; siblings, Ronald (Lorretta), Phillip A. (Gwen), Linda M. and Brian K. (Gloriane) Smith; grandchildren, Joel Holloway-Boyd, Adonis, Phoebe and Miles Boyd and Donnel and Eden Brooks; and great-grandchildren, Thomas Boyd and Johlon and Jordan Elizabeth Holloway-Boyd.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, 2:30 p.m. at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Church, 5055 E. Wallings Rd. Broadview Heights, Ohio 44147 where the family will receive friends from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Pastor Jeff Ziolkowski officiating. Interment at Northampton Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls on Monday at 10 a.m. (McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, Cuyahoga Falls)
