Our Glenys Lund Stevens, 60, passed away on November 9, 2025 in the arms of her husband and sons.
She was born February 7, 1965 in County Durham, England. Glenys attended Polam Hall School for Girls in Darlington where she participated in rugby, field hockey, ballet, horseback riding, judo, and net ball. Glenys and her sister Viv were rebellious. They tried to run away from school twice, but to their dismay they were returned. They loved dancing to the Bee Gees. The sisters also enjoyed visits to their grandparents' house where they watched them make Yorkshire puddings. She lived all over the world, including England, Iran, and the United States with her sisters Vivian and Victoria.
Glenys moved to the United States with her family when she was 15. She attended Firestone and then Revere, where she graduated in 1982. Glenys attended the University of Akron, where she studied business. In their teenage years, Greg first saw Glenys at Summit Mall where she worked in the hobby shop; it was love at first sight. They were in and out of each other's lives for some time until they were married on August 4, 1991 and the rest is history. They went on to have 3 sons, Doug, Adam, and Greg.
Glenys was a discipled athlete. She exercised every day at the Shaw JCC. She ran more than seven marathons. She volunteered at the Polish American Club. Glenys made amazing stuffing and mashed potatoes, even though she dreaded Thanksgiving. Glenys was very outgoing and loved talking to people. More than anything, she loved being a mom. Glenys was very involved with her boys. She loved to spend time with them and would talk about her boys to anyone who would listen. She was immensely proud of them. Glenys was also so proud to have a granddaughter, Phoebe.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Emily Lund, and her mother-in-law, Nancy Elias Stevens. Glenys is survived by her beloved husband Greg; her sons Doug (Jenni), Adam, and Greg; granddaughter Phoebe; sisters Vivien (Ian) Watt and Victoria; father Douglas; father-in-law Pete Stevens; goddaughter Catherine (Tyler) Bailes; nephew William Watt; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 4-7PM at the Anthony Funeral Home - Akron Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 18 at 11AM at St. George Antiochian Church, 3204 Ridgewood Rd in Akron, where friends may call for 1 hour prior. A gathering to remember Glenys will follow the service at the Polish American Club, 844 Dan St in Akron.
Glenys will be dearly missed by her family.
