Geraldine but... we call her "Gerry" because she hated her name (Taylor) Coffman was born February 8, 1944, in Akron, Ohio. She peacefully passed away surrounded by those who loved her on May 13, 2024, after a sudden decline in health. Gerry had just celebrated her 80th birthday.
Her husband of 58 years Robert K. Coffman, brother Jack Taylor, and sister MaryAnn Taylor met her with open arms at the gates of Heaven and are happily enjoying eternal life with her. Her parents, John and Frances Taylor and in-laws Kenneth and Ethel Coffman were also there to welcome her home.
Gerry loved God and was a faithful member of the Catholic Church and found so much peace attending and watching mass on television. She prayed the rosary daily and was blessed to depart on the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima, the Lady of the Rosary, and will surely continue to guide each of us to follow her path to heaven.
Gerry graduated from St Mary's high school. In 1961, a serendipitous meeting at a mailbox led her to the love of her life, Bob. Together they built a life, and family, and were third-generation owners of Colonial Florist in Firestone Park where they resided until Bob's passing in 2020.
Gerry was a voracious reader, she was the queen of trivia, biblical studies, and genealogy. She and Bob traveled extensively after retirement and would often go off route to find ancestors' graves so she could collect information to add to her ever-growing family tree.
A professional mother, she was active in the La Leche League and her home was always open to her children's friends and the neighborhood kids. She even let the boys use her living room as a soccer field. She could also feed an army a gourmet meal with random things she had in her pantry and refrigerator.
Gerry is survived by her children, Anne (Peter) Wright, Robert (Gergana Tsakova) Coffman, Jr., Yvette (Gennaro) Naccari, Charles Van Riper, Anthony (Emi) Coffman, Brigit (Lenny) Herbert, Jonathon (Tracy) Coffman, Edward (Amanda Zavarella) Coffman, Jenine (Christopher) Barnes, and former daughters-in-law Jennie Honeycutt-Coffman and Dana Cicci; grandchildren, Andrew (Katy Frick ) Wright, Alexander Wright; Emma and Erin Coffman, Gennaro and Matthew Naccari, Anthony, Alyssa, Olivia and Vincent Van Riper, Ayaka Coffman, Kennedy (Sheldon) Phillips, Mackenzie (Jordan Smith) Herbert, Aidan Herbert, Jaret (Kaleigh Glazier) Coffman, Spencer Coffman, Hannah (Lane) Smith, Sarah (Donald Reichard) Coffman, Isaac, Corinne and Sutton Coffman and their sibling due in October, Ruxin, Locklan and Ruby Barnes great-grandson Kayden Smith and Baby Phillips due in August.
