Gerald Eugene Caporlett

August 7, 1936 — September 25, 2024

Gerald E. 'Jerry' Caporlett, 88, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024.

Jerry was born in Akron, OH on August 7, 1936, to the late Jules & Judy Caporlett. He served in the US Navy from 1953-1957 and retired from Acme as a meat cutter. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many. Jerry was known for his love of golfing, spending time with friends at various restaurants and clubs, and his deep appreciation for sports. He especially enjoyed cheering on his daughter at her softball games and talking sports with family and friends-often rooting against those Browns! In addition to his hobbies, he found great joy in volunteering for the Special Olympics, supporting and encouraging athletes of all abilities.

Jerry was preceded in death by siblings Ronald Sandra, & John Caporlett; Granddaughter Allyson Akers.

He is survived by his children Bryan (Michelle) Caporlette, Shelly (Bill) Akers, Spencer, & Lindsay (John) Holland; grandchildren Tony Caporlette (fiance Camille), Nick Caporlette (Cindy), Wyatt Akers and Carmen Spencer; great-granddaughter Rozlyn Akers.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his Hospice Nurse, Nikki, whose compassionate care brought him comfort in his final weeks as well as to the family. His aide Heather, who selflessly went above and beyond by spending extra time with him outside of her required hours. Lastly, the dedicated staff at Heritage Villas who cared for him like family, with extra thanks to Rose, Brandi, Tiffany, and Jamie. We couldn't have navigated this difficult time without their kindness and support.

The family will receive friends on October 2, from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Akron Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Interment with full military honors will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at a later date.
