George A. Schueller

March 9, 1926 — August 20, 2018

George A. Schueller, 92 a religious and devout man, passed away on August 20, 2018.
He was a lifetime resident of Akron but he loved to travel. In his lifetime he visited every state at least once especially the State of Alaska where he was able to visit his nephew's family. His trips included the grandchildren whenever possible. He loved to be active, hopping from one event to another; and enjoyed taking the dogs, Tillie to get a cheeseburger everyday and treats to Daisy. George was a World War II veteran, very proud that he served his country as a Navy radioman aboard the USS Ticonderoga, USS Rinehart and USS Garfield. The USS Ticonderoga was just outside Tokyo during the surrender. After returning from the Navy he entered the printing industry where he worked at Lindsey, Hiney and finally retiring from Austin Printing. In his later years, he enjoyed working at his favorite Country Club, Mayfair. Born the first child to George and Mary (Kohls) Schueller on March 9, 1926, he was the eldest of 11 children. He attended St. Bernard Grade School and Central High School Class of 1944.
Preceded in death by the love of his life for 64 years, Tina; his loving parents, George and Mary Schueller; and brothers, Ralph, Norman and Joseph; He will be in our hearts forever as the best dad to George (Beverly), Mary (David) Saffles, David (Judy), Carol (David) Cuffman, Tom (Donna) and Robert (Robin). He was a loving grandfather to Julie (Rob) Clark, Jennifer (Nick) Jamison, David Saffles, Amy (Brian) Herchek, Lisa (Adam) Howard, Paul Schueller, Scott (Adrianne) Schueller and Trent Schueller; and adored great-grandfather to Brianna, Katie, Ryan, Mickey, Nicholas, Cecily, Maddie, Ewen, Riley, Flora, Guin, Gabriel and Alastair. He shared a loving bond with his brothers and sisters and will be greatly missed as their family patriarch by Mary Louise, Gretchen, Becky, Kathleen, Butch, Richard and Steve. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends, especially his lifelong best friend and schoolmate, Joe Pichotta. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michael Wells, D.O., Clearpath, Visiting Nurse Hospice, VFW and Kathy Grubbs for their exceptional care and support. George also made friends easily and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He coached CYO basketball, softball and bantam football. He was a genuine person appreciated for his unconditional support and jovial attitude. We will forever cherish the memories and believe he is still watching over us as a dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a dad/grandfather who taught us the value of daily hard work. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and taking vacations. The loss is immeasurable but so is the love left behind.
