George Lawrence Mcwilliams

December 26, 2003 — April 19, 2025

George McWilliams, 21, beloved son and brother, has gone home to Heaven with Jesus.
George was born December 26, 2003 in Akron to Larry and Helen McWilliams. He attended
Immaculate Heart of Mary Grade School and was a 2022 graduate of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy. While he passed before finishing his recreation, park, and tourism management degree, he was a student at Kent State University pursuing his dream of becoming a wildland firefighter for the US National Park Service. He was a proud employee of both the Riverfront & Lake Anna YMCAs and was a seasonal employee for the Summit Metroparks. An avid outdoor enthusiast, George had a passion for fishing, hunting, and shooting sports. Woods, waters, and trails were his heavens on Earth. Even his Eagle Scout project, creating two turnpikes on the Wetmore Trail in the CVNP, was an example of how George created pathways to connect his community with nature such that they could experience the same passions he did. While George enjoyed spending his own peaceful moments outdoors by himself, he also loved sharing that experience with the people most important to him. Nowhere else was a better place except when he was with his family.
George delighted people in other ways as well. He was involved in community theater all his life. Hamming up the stage from his first role in RATZ at four years old to flying across the stage as Michael in Peter Pan to not being able to put his arms down as Randy in A Christmas Story to showing the joy of pure imagination as Willy Wonka.
Exercise and fitness were another of George's passions. A fixture at the Y, he had become known as the "mayor" of the Y. Always working out, but often spending more time socializing with his many friends and coworkers. George was also a marathon runner and was frequently seen running on the Towpath with his mom, with various local running groups, and placing in many different races. George's legacy will be known by all who knew him and beyond as his presence permeates every space he's been, every smile he shared, and every heart he's touched.George was preceded in death by his grandparents Lawrence Sr. and Diane McWilliams and King Williams. He is survived by his parents Helen and Larry and his sisters Regina and Laura; grandmother Mary Ann Williams, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 25, from 4-8 pm at the Riverfront YMCA 544 Broad Blvd. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 (overflow parking will be available at Dewitt Elementary). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 26, 10 am at St. Eugene Catholic Church 1821 Munroe Falls Ave. in Cuyahoga Falls.
