Gary Phillip Smith

Gary P. Smith, 69, died Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the Hospice Care Center in Copley, after a long illness.
Gary was born on November 25, 1945 in Long Beach, CA to the late Louis & Wanda Smith, and moved to Ohio on his wife's request in 1981. He worked for Goodyear Aerospace for 26 years, retiring in 2008. Three weeks into his retirement, he grew bored and took a job with Securitas, just like his father had before him. Gary was a decent bowler, with a 298, and he enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his loving wife Stacey in 2002; and siblings Denny & Linda. He is survived by children Robert (Talia) Smith, Betsy Yost, Shellie (Scott Teffner) Smith, and Michele (David) Waggoner; grandchildren DJ, Makayla & Kaylee; sisters Kathleen Fitton, Stephen A. Smith, Maureen E. Jackson, Theresa S. Bouldin; as well as many loved ones and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 5, from 5-7 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL 247 Stow Ave. (at Third St., one block north of Portage Trail in) Cuyahoga Falls. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at the funeral home, with burial at St. Michael Cemetery in Mogadore immediately following. (Anthony, Akron, 330-724-1281, anthonyfh.com)
